In March, Vince Cornella became the 29th high school wrestler to win four Colorado state championships. He pinned all three of his opponents on the way to the 138 pound crown, putting an exclamation point on a 123-9 career record for Monarch High School.
Cornella was ranked the #28 overall recruit by Flowrestling in the Class of 2021 and #50 by Matscouts after a career that included third place finishes in 2020 at a pair of prestigious events - the Super 32 Challenge and the Doc Buchanan.
An Ironman placer and FloNationals All-American, Cornella provided a verbal commitment to Cornell in September 2019 after also considering Stanford, Northwestern, and Minnesota (according to the Denver Post). Cornella projects at 133 or 141 pounds.
