Christian Hansen: Meet an Agoge

As a seventh grader, Christian Hansen won a Suffolk County title, punching his ticket to his first New York State tournament. It wouldn’t be his last.

Despite the cancelation of the event due to Covid-19 in 2021, Hansen made four appearances at the state tournament. In his fourth go-round, as a junior at Cold Spring Harbor High School, Hansen swept his four bouts on the way to a state championship at 152 pounds.

That day was momentous for Hansen for a number of reasons. It capped off a 41-2 campaign, with close to 30 bonus point victories.

In addition, Hansen became the first state champion in the history of Cold Spring Harbor wrestling. And, after taking the title the Long Island star also gave a commitment to his grandfather’s alma mater - Cornell University.

A 2019 NHSCA Nationals All-American, Hansen was ranked the #167 recruit in the Class of 2021 by Matscouts.

He completed his Cold Spring Harbor career with 175 wins and notched third at the Eastern States Classic. He projects at 165 or 174 pounds in college.
