Cerchio, Joy, Henderson Place at Edinboro



At the Bobby Kauffman Memorial Open at Edinboro, three Spartan wrestlers placed in the first competition of 2025.


Louie Cerchio made the finals at 165 pounds after going 3-1 on the day with three bonus point victories.  He started with a technical fall over Lucas Schell of Buffalo (17-2) before majoring his next two opponents - Shawn Taylor of West Virginia and Max Kirby of Edinboro. He then dropped an 8-5 decision to Bucknell starter Noah Mulvaney to finish as the runner up.


Jaxon Joy nabbed third place at 149 pounds.  His four victories were all by bonus points, including technical falls by 15-0, 17-1, and 20-3 scores over opponents from Bucknell, Drexel, and Buffalo.


Cash Henderson won four matches on the way to fourth at heavyweight.  He recorded two first period pins against foes from Lock Haven and West Virginia.


Also competing for Spartan were Danny Aranda (141) and Kosta Koufalis (157).
