Joy, Bouyssou, Henderson Champs at Mat Town Open




Jaxon Joy (149), Gabriel Bouyssou (141), and Cash Henderson (285) all went undefeated on Sunday in Pennsylvania to win Mat Town Open titles.


It was Joy's third straight college open championship as he went 4-0 with three technical falls at Mat Town. He outscored his opponents by a combined score of 58-5 in a dominant showing.


Bouyssou and Henderson both earned their first college tournament titles. Bouyssou won all three of his bouts by technical fall, including an 18-3 victory in the finals. He racked up 56 points during the event. Henderson pinned Brandon Stiehler of Lock Haven to secure first place at heavyweight.


Louie Cerchio went 3-1 on the day to take fifth place at 165 pounds. After dropping his opening match to NCAA qualifier and eventual champion Max Brignola of Lehigh, he earned three consecutive technical falls to finish on the podium.


Also competing for Spartan Combat RTC were Ryder Yoshitake, who recorded a pin at 149 pounds, Kosta Koufalis at 157, and Liam Dwyer, who made his season debut at 133 pounds.
