Joy Wins 4th Straight Title at Patriot Open



Jaxon Joy won his fourth straight college open championship, going unbeaten at the Patriot

Open hosted by George Mason University. He began with a 10-2 major before winning by 15-0 technical fall in round two. Joy defeated Kelly Dunnigan of Penn, 9-2, in the semis and followed by majoring Kaden Cassidy of George Mason, 11-1, in the title match.


Gabriel Bouyssou dropped his opening match but rebounded with four consecutive victories, including three first period pins, to take fifth at 141. Also making the fifth place bout was Louie Cerchio, who went 5-1 on the day, with three falls at 165 pounds.


Cash Henderson earned a victory at heavyweight, while Liam Dwyer picked up a pair of wins at 133, including a major decision over Jonathan Mason of Rider. Also competing for Spartan Combat was Ryder Yoshitake (149).
