CSU Open Recap: Qureshi, Davis Place

At the Cleveland State Open on Sunday, Spartan wrestlers Ethan Qureshi (133) and Ashton Davis (285) earned places on the podium.


Qureshi took fourth, opening with wins over Landen Hacker of Kent State and Andy Lucinski of Buffalo to make the semifinals.


Davis was sixth at heavyweight. After dropping his first match to an opponent from Ohio State, Davis won three straight, including an 11 second pin over Simon Lato of Central Michigan.


After placing a week ago, Benny Rogers picked up four victories at 157, including a pin, a major, and a technical fall. George Oroudjov moved up to 141 pounds and got his hand raised three times at the new weight.


Earning a pair of wins were Foster Cardinale (125), Kaleb Williams (157), Tim Bova (157), and Roberto Padilla (165). Bova recorded two pins while Padilla topped teammate Liam Finn. Vince Napolitano wrestled at 149 in Ohio.
