Dominant Debut for Morgan Earns a World Team Trials Spot

In his first tournament representing the Spartan Combat RTC, Andrew Morgan dominated the competition in Fargo, North Dakota on Friday to earn an 86 kg spot at the World Team Trials later this summer.

Morgan took the mat four times at the Last Chance Qualifier and came away with four technical falls.

He defeated his first three opponents by 10-0 scores in the first period before topping Michael Nelson 14-4 in his final bout to clinch first place.

Morgan joins Spartan Combat from Campbell University, where he was a First-Team All-American in 2020. A two-time NCAA qualifier and SoCon champion, Morgan won more than 90 matches in college and joins an upperweight group at the RTC that also includes Kyle Dake, Nick Gwiazdowski, and Scottie Boykin.

Welcome to Ithaca, Andrew Morgan!
