Ferrara Wins Edinboro Open, Dellagatta, Padilla Place




Tyler Ferrara captured another college tournament title on Saturday, winning the 133 pound weight at the Edinboro Open. Ferrara outscored his opponents 30-5 on the way to the championship, beginning with a major decision over former EIWA placer Kyle Waterman of Drexel. He then topped D'amani Almodovar of Rider and Brock Christian of Gannon to make the finals. In that bout, he beat Minnesota's Jake Gliva, 4-1.


Also placing for Spartan were Mike Dellagatta at 197 and Robert Padilla at 165. Dellagatta won by fall in his opening match before a 9-6 decision over Carter Blough of Michigan State on the way to fourth. Padilla won four bouts on the path to sixth place, including over wrestlers from Kent State (major), Ohio, Maryland, and Rider.


Carter Tate (141) and Buzz Bomberger (157) picked up wins, while Mac Calavitta (149), Zahir McLean-Felix (174), and Tyson Carroll (285) also represented Spartan.
