Introducing an Agoge: Cooper Kropman

In his final high school match, Cooper Kropman earned a milestone win, bringing his impressive varsity career to a close with a 200-23 record.

New York high school fans were introduced to Kropman early in his career as he captured more than 35 victories as a seventh grader and made it to the state tournament in eighth grade, picking up a win by major decision at 138 pounds.

From there, Kropman was among the top wrestlers in the Empire State, notching third as a freshman at 152 pounds (behind Division 1 competitors Jacori Teemer of Arizona State and Matt Grippi of NC State) and grabbing silver as a sophomore at 160.

Kropman blitzed his way through his junior campaign with a 43-0 mark, with all but two wins by bonus points. He put together a dominating performance at the NYS tournament, where he captured the 160-pound state championship with a major over current Hofstra wrestler Joe McGinty.

A multi-sport athlete at Penfield High School, Kropman also placed twice at the prestigious Powerade event in Pennsylvania and took third at the Eastern States Classic.

The High Honor Roll student was ranked the #61 recruit in the Class of 2021 by Matscouts and projects at 165 or 174 pounds.
