In his final folkstyle competition in high school, Luke Duthie of Wyoming Seminary picked up four dominant wins on his path to third place at the National Preps Open at 195 pounds, including a decisive 8-1 victory over nationally-ranked Andrew Connolly in the bronze bout.
A few weeks prior, Duthie grabbed second at the NHSCA Senior Nationals in Virginia Beach at 195 with another strong 4-1 showing.
Before going to Wyoming Seminary, Duthie starred at Germantown Academy. As a junior, he won 30 matches and earned All-American accolades at the National Preps at 182.
He also was a First-Team All-Academic League selection and won first prize from the John Locke Institute in a National Essay contest on the economics of immigration.
Duthie, who committed to Cornell before his senior year, was named one of the top 200 recruits in the Class of 2021 by Matscouts. He will likely compete at 197 pounds for Spartan Agoge in 2021-22.
