The Spartan Combat RTC traveled to Virginia for the Patriot Open at George Mason University over the weekend.
Benny Rogers took fifth place, after a strong 4-1 performance at 157 pounds. Rogers beat a pair of George Mason wrestlers, won by 15-0 technical fall against an opponent from Navy, and topped Marc Koch of Davidson in the bout for fifth.
A number of Spartan wrestlers had multiple victories, including Foster Cardinale, who recorded a 19-3 technical fall over Matthew Ricci of Navy as well as a 47 second pin against Hale Robinson of Davidson. At 133, Ethan Qureshi won his opener and added on an 18-2 tech fall.
Roberto Padilla got his hand raised twice at 165, defeating opponents from Navy and American, while Ashton Davis also had a pair of wins, including a first period pin at heavyweight.
At 149, Vince Napolitana earned a 15-0 technical fall over David Diaz of VMI, while Tim Bova picked up a win at 157 and Liam Finn competed at 165.
