Meyer Shapiro captured a Cadet World title at 65 kg in 2021. He once again represented Team USA in the summer of 2023, this time at the U20 Worlds, and once again earned gold up at 70 kg!
He opened with an 11-0 tech versus Japan and then came from behind to win 6-4 in his second bout.
In the quarters, in a battle of 2021 Cadet World Champs, Shapiro dominated in an 8-0 victory and then dominated Julian George of Puerto Rico in the semis with an 11-0 first period tech fall.
In the finals, Shapiro trailed 4-0 early, but then controlled the rest of the way in an 11-6 victory over Rezaei of Iran!
